another music thread...

Last summer I spent some time in Dewey Beach, DE-- so much fun-- but I digress-- it was a running joke that every single bar played all the same music in the same order.

SO I am heading east again in a month to visit friends and see the opening show of the Dave Matthews tour... and while I am there, they are throwing me a birthday party.

So I thought it would be fun to burn them copies of the "Official Dewey Beach Soundtrack"

So, only thing is, I can only think of 12 songs, and really need about 5-6 more to round out the CD.

I welcome any suggestions that would complement the songs below-- esp some more vintage type tunes or tunes that were especially popular last summer.

Sweet Caroline - Neil Diamond
Laid - James
Walking on the Sun - Smashmouth
All Star - Smashmouth
You Give Love a Bad Name - Bon Jovi
Hashpipe - Weezer
Steal my Sunshine - Len
Sweet Home Alabama - Lynard Skynard
Angel - Shaggy
Pina Colada Song - Buffet
Your Love - Outfield
Blister in the Sun - Violent Femmes

Thanks!
Amy

Love both those-- but I associate them so much with the West Coast, and this is for my East Coast crowd (Californication HAS to be on there to remind them who its from). I stayed away from all reggae too as it reminds me of the year all my DC girls and I lived in San DIego together.

Now I am thinking i need to burn the "Life Soundtrack" Songs to a CD.

So many songs, so little disc space! lol

OK I'm taking my semi-drunk sunburned self to bed.

Just wanted to let you know that Jimmy Buffet didn't sing the Pina Colada song - it definitely sounds like him, but he didn't sing it.

You are correct! That was Rupert Holmes. Sometimes I shock myself with the things that I can remember! My friends tell me that I should try out for Jeopardy.

Amy,
Having spent many a summer on many an East Coast beach, the song "Buttercup" always seems to be a staple. Why do you build me up, Buttercup baby just to let me down.....

OK,

Took out Pina Colada --something was wrong w the volume on that one, much quieter than the others--

Replaced it with Build me up Buttercup--thanks Tracy for the suggestion!

Also took out Fleetwood Mac's landslide--am closing instead with the Violent Femme's Blister in the Sun.

Also added Train's Drops of Jupiter before Brown Eyed Girl.

And that's that! thanks for the suggestions!
