another music thread...
Last summer I spent some time in Dewey Beach, DE-- so much fun-- but I digress-- it was a running joke that every single bar played all the same music in the same order.
SO I am heading east again in a month to visit friends and see the opening show of the Dave Matthews tour... and while I am there, they are throwing me a birthday party. So I thought it would be fun to burn them copies of the "Official Dewey Beach Soundtrack" So, only thing is, I can only think of 12 songs, and really need about 5-6 more to round out the CD. I welcome any suggestions that would complement the songs below-- esp some more vintage type tunes or tunes that were especially popular last summer. Sweet Caroline - Neil Diamond Laid - James Walking on the Sun - Smashmouth All Star - Smashmouth You Give Love a Bad Name - Bon Jovi Hashpipe - Weezer Steal my Sunshine - Len Sweet Home Alabama - Lynard Skynard Angel - Shaggy Pina Colada Song - Buffet Your Love - Outfield Blister in the Sun - Violent Femmes Thanks! the only one i remember is that one that goes "uhhuh yeahah you wanna be my lover"
that and the one that goes "la la la la la" |
hmm , maybe Aerosmith: Crazy, that song always reminds me of summer sorta
will smith: summertime I think those two are kinda summertime tune classics Good Luck with your cd:D DGP~Honey~ |
OK here it is---
1. Sweet Home Alabama - Lynard Skynard
2. Laid - James 3. Walking on the Sun - Smashmouth 4. You give Love a Bad name - Bon Jovi (of course, couldn't over look my boy Jon) 5. Every Morning - Sugar Ray (fellow USC alum) 6. All Star - Smashmouth 7. Angel - Shaggy 8. Sweet Caroline - Neil DIamond 9. No Rain - Blind Melon 10. Come on Eileen - Dexy's Midnight Runners 11. Hashpipe- Weezer 12. Californication - Red Hot Chili Peppers 13. Allison - Elvis Costello 14. Steal My Sunshine - Len 15. Pina Colada Song - Jimmy Buffet 16. Brown Eyed Girl - Van Morrison 17. American Woman - Lenny Kravitz (tho thinking of replacing this with YOUR LOVE - Outfield) 18. Landslide - Fleetwood Mac So, what do you think? :) Amy |
How about Hotel California or Margaretaville?
|
Love both those-- but I associate them so much with the West Coast, and this is for my East Coast crowd (Californication HAS to be on there to remind them who its from). I stayed away from all reggae too as it reminds me of the year all my DC girls and I lived in San DIego together.
:) Now I am thinking i need to burn the "Life Soundtrack" Songs to a CD. :D |
I took a cruise when I was 17 and heard reggae 24/7 and ever since then I can't stand it (damn that was 13 years ago).
HMMMM if I think of anymore songs I'll be sure to post:) |
thanks!!!
So many songs, so little disc space! lol OK I'm taking my semi-drunk sunburned self to bed. Amy |
Just wanted to let you know that Jimmy Buffet didn't sing the Pina Colada song - it definitely sounds like him, but he didn't sing it.

You are correct! That was Rupert Holmes. Sometimes I shock myself with the things that I can remember! My friends tell me that I should try out for Jeopardy. :D

Amy,
Having spent many a summer on many an East Coast beach, the song "Buttercup" always seems to be a staple. Why do you build me up, Buttercup baby just to let me down..... :) |

:) OK,
Took out Pina Colada --something was wrong w the volume on that one, much quieter than the others-- Replaced it with Build me up Buttercup--thanks Tracy for the suggestion! Also took out Fleetwood Mac's landslide--am closing instead with the Violent Femme's Blister in the Sun. Also added Train's Drops of Jupiter before Brown Eyed Girl. And that's that! :) thanks for the suggestions! Amy |
