Getting recommendation letters when you don't know anyone?
I plan on attending a southern school in the fall of 2012 that does deferred rush. At this point I do not know anyone who was in a sorority. my sister was in a sorority but the sorority she was is not at the school i hope to attend.
What should I do? Would it be ok to ask my mom and dads coworkers?
I need at least 1 recommendation letter per house am i correct?
thanks. sorry if this is repetitive or just a really stupid thread.

This question is all over this web site if you had bothered to do a search.
IT IS OK TO ASK ANYONE YOU KNOW!!!!!!!!
Yes, you can ask your sister if she knows anyone in the groups on that campus. Yes, you can ask your parents friends. Yes, you can ask your neighbors. Yes, you can ask someone who went to college on the other side of the country. Yes, you can ask people you worked with. Yes, you can ask your Sunday School teacher. Yes, you can ask your pastor's wife. Yes, you can ask the school counselor at your high school. Yes, you can ask anyone you know anywhere in any city in any state that went to school anywhere or knows someone who went to school anywhere.
Does that cover it well enough????

The "requirement" for recommendations is going to vary by school, from they're not needed at all to you better have 2 and they better both be from people you know personally.
Read the 800 bazillion how do I get recs threads here. The short answer is you start asking every grown up you know and you'll get a lot further than you think. And by the way, this is excellent conversation skills training. Do as much of the favor asking out loud, not via email, facebook, twitter, etc. They're ok for getting you started but don't go through the entire process that way. It's not professional and won't do you as much good.

Wow, I wonder if there's another site such as this with people who have better attitudes. Now I know why I was warned not to come on here.
Good-bye.

Reading what others have posted, I smell no foul play. You are just expecting people to do work for you.
My perspective on this would be horrible because I didn't need any recs, and I am in a fraternity. I am not sure if the sorority rush needed any, but I doubt they did. It is just how the school works, they have no official houses.
