Andy Rooney did a much better (and much less mean spirited) commentary on this back in the late 1970s. I'm going to go find the book it's in and type it here later.

You should have picked it up from the first one. It's satirical so it's not spot on in a literal sense, but spot on in the sense of how some politically active people truely view the "other guys".
