Comfortable pref heels??

Here's a question for both actives and PNMs. I need black or silver heels for my chapter's pref ceremony. Being 5'9" with messed up ankles, I pretty rarely wear heels, and when I do I will wear them for pictures and take them off right away! So I don't own a pair of heels that I could spend 4+ hours in on pref night. PNMs can trade their heels for flip flops to walk between parties, but we have too much going on to do that.

Any recommendations for a cute pair of heels (probably relatively low) that is comfortable enough to wear for a long night?

The most comfortable heels I've ever owned were Bandolino. And every pair I've ever tried on since has also been very very nice. They run ~$60 a pair but they're great quality shoes.

bandolinos are wonderful shoes. definitely choose some that are comfortable, hannah. shop for your shoes in the late afternoon or evening when your feet have expanded to their fullest.

I don't have your height or ankle concerns, but I have special shoe needs due to my Morton's toe and previous foot surgeries so I'm always looking for comfortable shoes. Granted what is comfortable for one may not be for another, as I have experienced, so try everything on, even if it isn't labeled "comfort" or may look like it won't work.

Consistently I've found Sofft brand shoes to be pretty comfortable, and moderately priced ($100 or below when not on sale), and not only are they sold at Macy's and Nordstrom, but even in my cow town. Cole Haan is nice but costs more, and my favorite is Anyi Lu which I only get at a massive Nordstrom sale or at The Rack.

Here's what I mentioned coming into play, Bandolino's have never fit me right, other than boots. If you can get to a Nordstrom's and find a well trained person in the shoe department and tell them about your concerns they should be able to bring you some suggestions so you're not trying just anything on. When a salesperson knows their stock they are aware of inconsistencies or quirks of a line, design, or shoe and can really make the experience smoother and a good use of your time.

If you can financially swing it, spend a little more money for a pair of black heels you can use beyond rush. A good pair of black heels will take you to job interviews and into an internship or a grownup job and you know they will be comfortable. If you want to go that route I would suggest sticking to closed toe as they are more work appropriate over all than peep or open toe if you end up working somewhere more conservative.

I just found the cutest/comfiest ones at Kohl's. They're by Mudd - I couldn't find them online but these are similar.

Franco Sarto is my favorite brand for comfortable shoes. They are sometimes a little, um, less-cute than others, but the comfort is worth it to me.

Do you have to have a stiletto style heal or can it be a more chunky heal? The wider the heal, the more support you will have for your ankles and more comfort you will find in the shoe. Look for wide toe box shoes and make sure the shoe feels comfortable when you wear it in the store. If it is the slightest bit uncomfortable when you are trying it on, you won't be able to stand it for 4 hours. Also, invest in Blist Block by Band Aid. It will protect any areas that rub from getting blisters. It really works.

I work in Hospitals all day and also find the Softt Shoes to be the best. I can wear them for 6+ hours on a concrete floor before my "dogs" start to bark. They are not cheap, but they are worth it:

Totally agree! I've owned several pairs. They have great padding and supportive heels.

BTW, thanks for the link. I never thought of looking them up. I've just always bought them from Nordstroms. I had no idea they had so many options. I'm going shopping!!

Thank you so much ladies for all of the advice! I knew I could count on GC for shoe shopping help!

So, I went shopping...and got 3 pairs of heels!! I have a shoe problem...but they were all around $35 each! I went to DSW and Marshall's, I tried the Bandolino's but they didn't quite fit me right either. But for those of you that love them, they have great deals on them at Marshalls!

Pair #1: Nice black pumps, fairly classic, nice medium-height (~2"), slightly wider heel, which I know isn't quite as fashionable right now, but is a worthwhile sacrifice to keep me feet in decent shape. Definitely can be worn again for interviews and such! And much more of a rounded toe than the picture suggests. They are Jellypop "Angel"


Pair #2: Silver strappy sandals, great to have in the closet for formal events, don't ask me why I don't already own a pair! Also about 2" high with a wider heel. They are Unlisted "Dance With Me"


Pair #3: For some reason I decided to go to Marshall's...always a bad idea because I spend way too much money there even if I don't need anything! But I got a PERFECT pair of nude pumps...I don't need them for rush, but these are a great classic staple. They are Nine West, really well made, and sooo comfortable! The leather is really soft and the insides are well padded, and the shank is flexible. Also the angle they are pitched at is really solid, so the narrow heel doesn't make them unstable. I will be wearing these to chapter every week from now on I am obsessed, these are my favorite of the three and they weren't even what I set out to buy! Nine West "Goodnews"

Good job and such quick work. They all look like reasonable choices. I am serious about the Blister Block, however. When you put your shoes on at the beginning of the day, rub it on anywhere the shoe sorta rubs. Be generous. You'll thank yourself at the end of the day when everyone else has blisters and you don't!

If wedges are allowed as heels this will help with the ankle issues. Seriously, since you're 5'9", you wouldn't need any higher heels than 1-2 inches. DSW & Macy's have some great wedges.
