Bringing more sororities to Rutgers

At Rutgers University there are only 7 social sororities but over 20 social fraternities. There are SO many students here at RU, and those 7 sororities all have a lot of members. Some didn't even have a pledge class because they were too big! How do we expand the number of sororities on campus here? It'd be great if anybody could help.

Thanks!

Is Rutgers open for expansion at this time? In order for a new NPC sorority to be added, your school must vote to open for expansion.

@ the bold -- Does this even happen? Isn't quota determined by the number of students going through recruitment (not the size of the sororities)? I haven't read about sororities not taking pledge classes since I've been on GC.

You mean an informal COB/spring pledge class? That's not unusual.

Are you a sorority member?

Guessing it's informal/COB/etc.

I thought there are way over 7 social sororities with active chapters at Rutgers University.

Is the OP only asking about NPC sororities?

Probably

ETA: Yea, Rutgers has 58 GLOs. I doubt the OP couldn't find what she was looking for in one of the 18 sororities.

And yeah, OP is narrowly looking at NPC sororities here. My guess is "I want to join but the one I wanted didn't have COB and I didn't rush/got cut and I want to be in one but it'd just be easier to start one."

/lays a dollar on the table.

Geesh, I don't like it when people say there are only x number of sororities when the person really means that there are only x number of a particular council or conference of sororities.

You all need to stop jumping to conclusions.

I am a member of a fraternity here. So I am a guy.

Also http://getinvolved.rutgers.edu/frate...ities/chapters
What I meant by 7 sororities, I meant 7 social sororities that are not limited to a specific group. So I am NOT including a group like "Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority" because they are a Latin Sorority.

So yes NPC sororities...

now please enough of the criticizing?

Oh dear, limited to a specific group? Really?

Anyway, it's an NPC process, panhellenic on your campus takes care of it. If you want more NPCs then that's how it happens.

Stop worrying about their new member classes.

Or you could go back to the Greek Life Office at Rutgers instead of coming to Greekchat. Good luck.

Your school needs to be open for sorority expansion in order for another sorority to colonize.

In order for that to happen, the school's Greek Life Office and Panhellenic community needs to see a need for another chapter, decide that the level of sorority interest there culd support another chapter, and vote to open for expansion.

In short, this is something that can't happen without the proper approval. It's not just going to happen because a fraternity thinks there should be another sorority.

Why are you worried about what the sororities are doing?

And if you are Greek, why don't you ask the women you know?

FYI -- Lambda Theta Alpha is a social sorority, so if you meant NPC sorority, you should have said that.

It's too late for this fuckery *yawn*

Same shit, different toilet. "Greek Life" and "sorority" and "fraternity" are synonymous with NPC and IFC.
