Not cute, but practical.

Use both hands and/or a comb to pull your hair into a bun wherever you like along the midline of your scalp. My preference: at the top of the back of my head. Wrap scrunchie around bun. Hair stays out of eyes and off back of neck.

In the evening, remove the scrunchie, shake out the bun, brush out your hair, and you're good to go. Stick-straight hair like mine sometimes even holds a bit of a curl from being stuck in a bun all day if I don't brush it out too aggressively.

I love this look because it can either be dressed up or dressed down... also because it looks good on pretty much anyone.

I still use scrunchies for the same reason! I thought that I was the only person who still used them. The problem is, my very fine and thin hair just gets crazy bends in them. My hair is long and I am always putting it up, but I have to be sure that I'm not going anywhere later where I'd want to keep it down. Side braids are my summer go-to style, and if I start them right (higher up and not at my ears), when I take them out, I get some crinkles that are kind of cute for night time.

Please get of my head. GC is less fun when you say what I'm thinking more often than not.

I stopped wearing scrunchies years ago.
I wear black or brown ties like those or one of these:

I almost always put my hair up and the butterfly comb is way easier on my hair than a hair tie. Things are expensive even at street fairs, but worth it since they've lasted me years whereas "EZCombs" break the second day.

I love that. Do you know where us commoners can find it?

Possibly on E bay, they come in different sizes/colors/beading patterns. I also found them at our yearly summer street/crafts fair so it seems they have local vendors (or it's another similar company.)

Thanks!

I have a couple of friends who have African crafts companies and make beaded or wood accessories. They don't have these in stock so I must buy elsewhere.

That's cool, if they have websites and such please share the links. I think these are patented although they do have distributors/affiliates and such, but they're not available around here outside of the street fair. I should check the State Fair this summer to see if they're there too.
