Convention 2011

Just out of curiosity, where is next year's Convention to be held? Any information available on it yet?

Arizona.... I think. But I don't remember where. Just not the same place it was the last time it was in Arizona.

From our Convention 2009 thread (http://www.greekchat.com/gcforums/sh...onvention+2011), there's mention of the Biltmore in Phoenix. I'm not sure if ASUADPi has any additional info yet or not

(Speaking of ASUADPi - sorry I didn't get a chance to call you when I said I would....life has been so super crazy the last few months, and it doesn't look like it's easing anytime soon )

Sorry to crash, but I was there for Kappa's last convention. The Biltmore is really nice! Even though it will be seriously about 108 degrees outside, bring a sweater! The conference rooms are usually about 60 degrees, so you'll freeze without one. It's a really nice place, though.

Yup Arizona Biltmore.
What's good about it is that there is stuff around. The Biltmore is basically 24th street and Camelback. Right in that area is a Cheesecake Factory (yummy), a "mall" of sorts (I think it has a Macy's) and there is an AMC theater. Definately, much more to do around the hotel then when it was here in 05 at Wild Horse Pass.

Definately will be attending. Not sure if I will be attending as the "official" advisor, but I will be going, because it's home. Myself and the TME advisor are determined that we are going and gonna be roommates. LOL. We'll see.

Jen-It's all good. I understand. I just tried calling you. You probably didn't recognize the number as I called on my new home phone.

Since I'm not in AZ anymore, sorry can't give too many updates as I won't actually "be planning" anything this year. The alum association new about it back in 07, so we could start saving up money since we do opening banquet.

^ You're not in AZ anymore?? Wow, how things change!

I made the promise to attend (for my first time) if my chapter was up for Golden Lion, and it seems that they have a VERY short list to fulfill! Just out of curiosity, can you get a room alone? I'm sure I'd have to pay extra, but I'd hate to ruin somebody else's convention!

OMG I forgot. I posted it on FB but not on GC.

I got a job with the DOD teaching 2nd grade. I moved to Fayetteville, NC.

As for convention, I know you can get your own room, it will just cost you a bit more.

For those interested in attending I would just start saving up right now. Between airfare, registration fees, convention fees, etc.. (which are all bundled into the price of convention, minus airfare), you are looking at about 1000 to attend. Remember though that the Biltmore is a 4 or 5 star resort. The fee does include the room, the convention and food.

It is definately worth it. Convention is a wonderful experience!

That's actually a really good price - I go to two other conventions each year, and spend about $1k each, and trust me, we don't get meals or any other frills for that!

And I'm excited that you're east of the Mississippi now! Maybe we'll finally meet!

*crash* Major Lane Swerve....

The Biltmore. Wow, just WOW. Can I come visit?

(Isn't another GLO having a convention at the Camelback Inn? I'm inviting myself to visit that one too).

When the date gets closer, I promise the AZ members of GC will post some "updates" on what's happening in Scottsdale/Phoenix. It is to be hoped that by that time, AZ will be back in the good graces of the rest of the US. I would hate for ADII to cancel their convention due to the recent events in our state.

*going back into my own lane now
