I'm getting to old for this SH*#

Last weekend one the bruhs called me up and asked if I wanted to hang out with him and another bruh from his chapter who was in town from Tennessee. I met them at Friday's for some drinks. When I arrived the visiting bruh had some other young cats with him. These guys were in their early 20's I'd say. One of the guys was a trash talking short guy who liked to approach women with comedy lines. He asked me if I wanted to step outside and smoke a cigar with him. I didn't mind because I thought he was funny. So as this group of young ladies walked by he decides to pursue. I just sat back and watched. As I watched him make a complete ASS out of himself, A van pulled up next to him and these women. Out of this van came about 8-10 guys. One of the guys was apparently the boyfriend of one of these young ladies. The next thing I know is he jumps on this little guy and starts slapping him around. Immediatley I run over and push the guy off of him. At his point ALL of his boys start to approach. I grabbed the little guy and started to back up. As we turn to walk away they start talking Trash and insulting me. Had this happened about six years ago, I would have gladly stepped to him and taken a loss. Since I'm 6'3 and 285lbs, not to many people talk trash to me. But I had to walk away. In today's society,especially Oakland, These guys might be packing a heater (gun for the ebonically challenged). They don't care about their lives but I do about mine. I have a wife and child to think about. As a result my pride is hurting because I feel I let myself be disrespected. What would you have done or how would you feel in my situation?
