BULL PUCKEY...where did you get this erroroneous notion?
It has NEVER been the policy of TKE to go on a campus where
we simply replaced an existing fraternity or where we were not
wanted. We have gone on where the IFC or school balked but
the group was strong and survived anyway--a different story...
I have been active in TKE in expansion since 1956, and I can
assure you we have turned down many a group who wanted us
and ended up going with another 'cause they did not qualify for
colony status--generally due to size.
BUT today's system is indeed different...it is hard to remain quiet when a campus with 4,000 unaffiliated men is ignored and
the IFC or Director of Greek Activities says "no" due to some few
houses being small. They are small because they are wimps,
so, grow or move aside...how can you argue with this?
All of us want to present a positive image. Fraternity is for Life.
Free enterprise and open rush are two things we all ought to have and none of this petty crap. We all love our chapters and
if we don't grow and/or add, we die.
I know of no rule, nationwide, about time limitations on returning
to campus where an inactive chapter is...orphaned alumni are
often happy to have a fresh start.
But TKE does NOT knowingly go where not wanted and I resent
the insinuation...as would all of you, too. Erik Conard---Denver
