“They didn’t have enough money. They were in debt. Their planning and assessment and development of student learning outcomes were deemed not up to par,” said Belle Wheelan, president of the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

Houston Chronicle:
DALLAS — Officials say Paul Quinn College, a small historically black college in Dallas, is losing its accreditation.
Belle Wheelan, president of the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, cited the private liberal arts school's debt, a lack of funding, planning, assessment and student learning outcomes.
Colleges can't award diplomas without accreditation in Texas and an unaccredited school's students can't receive federal or state financial aid.
