Possible Trial in Case Involving Ole Miss Sorority

The Daily Journal recently reported an overview of some of the more interesting cases that may go to trial in 2009 in either state or federal courts in northeast Mississippi. One case apparently does relate to a portion of Greek life at Ole Miss. Please see excerpt below; URL for the entire article as posted on web site is:

Cases in the 2008 headlines are set for trial during 2009, whether in circuit courts or the U.S. District Court in north Mississippi.

Whether they actually come to trial depends on several factors:

- Some civil cases may be settled; that is, never brought to trial because the parties agree to a settlement.

- Some criminal defendants will plead guilty rather than take a chance on a trial from which harsher punishments could arise.

- Others may be delayed into 2010.

However, when the parties can’t agree or when prosecutors aren’t offering deals, cases will come to court.

GC's contingent of lawyers and law students may be able / willing to search and see what official summaries regarding this case are available. About the best I can do with limited time and even more limited knowledge is say that the district court in northern Mississippi naturally has a web site with links to all kinds of stuff.

Isn't in the risk management guide that One can be easily hurt while dancing on tables.

Haven't heard anything about this on campus...interesting...
ETA: Found this online...looks like she is also "suing" the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council which *I think* runs The Powerhouse here in Oxford. The Powerhouse has hosted many sorority/fraternity formals, socials, etc...http://www.oxfordarts.com/powerhouse.php.
