FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - A 12-year-old boy was arrested for speeding in a stolen car with two loaded handguns, Spotsylvania police said.
The boy was spotted about 5:20 a.m. on Dec. 12, while driving on Plank Road near Glade Drive, west of Fredericksburg. Investigators say he was going 70 mph in a 55-mph zone and speeded up when he say a Spotsylvania deputy.
When the deputy pulled over the vehicle, he ran the registration. It came back as stolen out of North Carolina, with a warning the driver may be armed with two handguns. The driver, a 12-year-old boy from Burlington, North Carolina, was taken into custody without incident, police said.
A search of the vehicle turned up two loaded handguns in the front passenger seat hidden beneath bandanas, police said.
