Have you done a Bowling event?
I am researching some ideas on how to use our local Bowling alley/lanes to do a fundraiser or event.
Any advice, suggestions, stories, etc are welcome!

Yep! We used our school's alley, though, so I don't know if it cost us any money.
Basically all of the sisters had to pay an entry fee for themselves and a date. The money went to our philanthropy.
We just bowled for fun, but I'm sure you could make it some sort of tournament.
Oh and our t-shirts were cute -- "Grab an ADPi and let the pins fly!"

We've never used our alley for a philanthropy event, but I know Big Brothers Big Sisters have -basically they had us form a team and we had a tournament, with an entry fee and prizes from the local businesses.
It does make a fun social tho - handcuff bowling! Yay for teamwork

I am member of Lambda Chi Alpha at Southeast Missouri State and we get involved with Bowl for a Cure supporting the Susan B. Comen Breast Cancer Foundation. You may be able to find some more information at this website:

Good Luck!

Bowling event
I am a manager of a bowling alley and can tell you that we LOVE doing fundraisers for different groups. Just go to your local center and talk to the manager about exactly what you would like to see happen. There will be a small fee for the use of the center (like $20 per lane for 2 hours) or rent the whole center for $400 or $500 depending on the manager. Then what you do is get sponsors or charge a small cover and the difference of the money goes to your event. Every one I have held has been very successful. One piece of advice would be to hold your event during an off season such as summer, then the amount the bowling center will charge you will be less! Good Luck.

I have never organized one but have competed in one...the only problem with it was everyone would finish at different times and then there was too much down time...i think adding the twist like handcuff bowling is a great idea

My chapter has a Bowl-a-Thon every December. We raise money for Sickle Cell Anemia research. We have chapter members, family and friends form bowling teams and compete for prizes.
There are several other D9 orgs in NYC who have bowling events, raising money for worthy causes.
