Anna Nicole Smith's son Daniel dies in Bahamas

Poor guy. He seemed like such a nice, normal kid despite his mother.

Any death is sad to learn about.
IMHO, just as sad that this thread started at 9:01 AM on 9/11

Oh goodness. And right after they celebrated the birth of a new baby, this happens. My prayers go out to Anna and her family. I can't imagine what losing a child may be like.

Somebody died that is newsworthy, that all the news outlets reported, and you want to say that it is "sad" that I posted it at a particular time? I think it's sad and tacky that you would stoop to commenting on something like that with that sort of implication.

None of the news media or outlets that I was watching or lisening to said anything about it this morning at all. First report I heard was just now-on a music or entertainmet radio station.

Other matters happeining here today.

Yes, any death is sad. But what makes this one, today, so special?
The son of semi-celeberty dies.
Here, in NYC metro area, 3000 died five years ago.

I logged into CG to see if there were any discustions on that given the several shows last night and today-and was just not in the frame of mind to see your posting at that time.

Sorry if my posting seemed sad and tacky to you. I did label it my POV and MHO.

I return this thread to its original status......

Don't know him. Don't really care. I'm not even sure why this is in the news.

Maybe what Jon's saying (and I'm perhaps putting words into his mouth) is that he's sad that Americans think stuff like this qualifies as "news." Out of the thousands of people who died that day, one was the son of a billionaire celebrity. Why should we care more about this kid than all the rest just because his mom married some billionaire, and presumably, he had some of that money?

-- also, the family's attorney's name is awesome.

Is the world, or at least the US, supposed to stop every year on 9/11?

What difference does it make if she started this thread on 9/11...at *gasp* 9:01 am. What difference does it make if she started it at 9:11 am?

There's a point where sensativity goes overboard.

Plus, if we DO stop the world every 9/11, then we've given the terrorists exactly what they wanted.
