Wisdom Teeth

I am off to the dentist to have 2 of my wisdom teeth removed. I already had the other 2 taken out a while back. Wish me the speediest recovery.

That's the truth!! I got mine out 6 years ago, and I still remember the drugs. I don't know what they gave me before I even got to the wisdom teeth-removal place, but I had told them that under no circumstances would they be putting an IV in my arm-I hate needles. So, they gave me some pill to take before my mom and I left the house-and oh, dear lord. I don't remember what it was, but I was so out of it-I thought that people were skiing down my pillow, and that there was a circus in the truck in front of us. I also thought my cousins were in the back seat of the car-they weren't....but I talked to them none the less!!

Then, when they started the IV, I asked them if I could take it home with me.

However-I had chipmunk cheeks the next day, and could barely swallow a milkshake. That part wasn't so fun. My dear mother took pictures.....

I'm sure everyone will groan about this but I hardly had any pain after my wisdom teeth were removed. I had chipmunk cheeks but that was it. The next night I went out for dinner with my (ex) boyfriend and his parents. Of course, it was hard to chew for a while but that was it. I never took any of the drugs the oral surgeon prescribed....still have lots of Tylenol 3 (AKA codeine) left over. Heavy stuff.

Tom, I had to have my removed b/c they were coming in impacted. If I didn't have them removed, my jaw would have been seriously affected.

I had the same experience. I got up early the next morning and gave a 1-hour presentation to a group of 30 students.

We must've lucked out.

When I had to have mine taken out they did the pre x-ray a week ahead and saw that they were so far up that they might have been impacted into my sinus cavity. They weren't going to be able to tell if they could remove one until they reached it...otherwise they would have had to transfer me to the hospital to get it out.
So glad that wasn't the case!

Best of luck and just a word of advice...don't consume any dairy 24 hours afterwards. I did and I wanted to barf!

I had an interesting experience. I was awake while all four were pulled. Drove home in rush hour traffic, no pain cause I was doped up. When I got home blood was dripping from my mouth. My mom got the Codeine prescription then I was fine. I couldnt sleep for 4 days, cause of the pain.

Wishing you a speedy recovery.

I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth out at once... fortunately they hadn't grown in too far, so it was just a straight extraction. I was eating solid food again the next day. The only bad thing was that the doc did one of the anesthetic blocks wrong, so the last one hurt like he!! - but once I got home I was able to control the pain with just Advil. I guess I was lucky

Good luck! I had them all 4 come in just fine... Then I had them out... Can't say it was fun. I was out with friends again the next night though. Good luck!
