Dad's Day Event?

Hello all!

I was recently talking to my dad who had been subjected to my mother's roaring about how great our Mom's Day event was at our Delta Zeta function this past weekend. He asked me if we planned to do a Dad's Day and expressed how much we would love to go.

My question is, do any sororities have Dad's Day events that your chapter coordinates? I was discussing it with some girls in our chapter and they hadn't heard anything about such an event being planned. Can anyone help me? I don't want to disappoint my dad

Thanks for your help guys!
Emily

Oh, you've got to have a Dad's Day! It works well if you can plan it for a football/baseball/basketball weekend - one event can be the game. Have a bar-b-que at the house if you can - maybe a golf game, for sisters and dads who are interested. Good luck!(I've seen lots of cute shirts for Dad Days)

We alternate between Mom's Weekend one year and Boy's Weekend (which includes dads and brothers) the next year. I think it's a good system. We also have a general "Family Weekend" in the fall for all family members.

Chi Omega at the University of TN has "Daddy's Day" which is usually on a Saturday and includes lunch as well as either a baseball game, UT spring football "orange and white game", bowling, etc. It's so much fun and the fathers love it!

We did Dad's Day on a Saturday during football season and had a lunch before the game. My first year we rented out a pizza parlor and had lunch with our dads...it started to get rainy and instead of going to the football game, my father and I, with a group of about 5 other girls and dads, stayed there and played pool and watched a football game on the big screen. It was fairly early into my new member period, and my parents had been indifferent to my joining a sorority.

Well, after that my dad was hooked! He saw how much fun I was having and the sisterhood we shared. He looked forward to Dad's Day every year I was in college and was so sad my senior year that it was is last one! In fact, my dad got so behind my being a Sigma, that he put a I HEART SSS bumper sticker on his car and went and bought himself a sailboat tie.

My father passed away 4 years ago, and the party pics from Dad's Day and the memories of those time are precious to me!

We had a BBQ at the house, as well as house tours. We also had a bags/cornhole tournament, and then went over to the football game. We planned it for the University's family weekend.

We had it every year during football season... Dads came in on Friday evening or Saturday morning. They slept in our rooms in the chapter house, and we all slept on the floors in the living room and family room. Had a big breakfast game day, went to the game in the afternoon, then gathered at the house to grill steaks in the evening. We moved all our cars out of our parking lot behind the house, put some bales of hay around for sitting, and had a professional square dance caller teach everyone how to square dance. It was a blast, and the dads looked forward to it every year. We always had either a Dad's day hat or T-shirt as a party favor for them and hired the party pic guy to take photos.

Mom's weekend was during the Spring Sing competition in the spring, and we had brunch, went to the competition to cheer on our entry, went to church on sunday, etc. They loved it, and it was a great way for the parents who weren't greek in college to get acquainted with the system and become fans of greek life.
