Sorority Retreat

I am attempting to plan our first annual retreat for our sorority and I have no idea where to start. Any ideas at all would be very much appreciated.

Do you have goals for the retreat (like get ready for Recruitment or Homecoming) or is it just a sisterhood/bonding retreat? That would make it easier to give advice.

do you have a limit on how far you can travel? and is this a day retreat or an overnight retreat? this way we know how much time you need to fill with activities!

My sorority does a annual retreat as part of our new member education program, but I would imagine what we do would also work for an entire sisterhood.

We went to a YMCA about 30 minutes from campus. The YMCA was a great venue because they had a pool, hot tub, gym, volleyball courts etc., and they allowed us to use one of their large conference rooms to spend the night in. It was so much fun! We had free time for a few hours and then after we ate we played some games to get to know eachother and our sorority better.
For example: Being new members we played a name game where everyone stands in a circle and someone starts by saying their name. The next person repeats their name and then says their own and so on...

We also played 'two truths and a lie' where everyone comes up with two facts about themselves and one lie and the sisterhood has to guess which one is a lie.

Other than that we just played some jeopardy-type games about our sorority's history and creed and national leadership.

hope this helps!

our retreat is scheduled for a weekend. it is only for sisters, and it is mainly for sisterhood bonding so that we can get ourselves together before pledging starts the following week. we are looking for some type of activity that would stress sisterhood bonding and communication... if anyone has any ideas let me know!!! thanks

We also had a sisterhood retreat the first weekend after the girls got their bids. It was for sisters only. We went to big bear in California. It was so much fun. Oh I went to Oregon State.

Spend some time on ritual. At our retreat every year we had to pass a ritual test. I can't think of a better way to strengthen a sisterhoodt than to remind everyone of the basis of their bond.

My chapter is going to a cheerleading gym about 15 minutes away from campus. There are lots of trampolines and a foam pit! I don't know too much about what we're doing, but we have been told to bring an item that is special to us that we can talk about to the group (kind of like "show and tell")
