Mon Feb 5, 2007 9:48 PM ET
By Barbara Liston
ORLANDO, Florida (Reuters) - Disguised in a dark wig, glasses and a trench coat, U.S. space shuttle astronaut Lisa Nowak waited in hiding for a woman she considered a rival for another astronaut's affections and tried to kidnap her, police in Orlando said on Monday.
Nowak, 43, was arrested on charges including battery and attempted kidnapping, according to an Orlando police affidavit.

This person has been sniffing too much pure oxygen or something.
Or has been weightless too often.
Go figure.

LOL at the title of the thread, first of all...and than another LOL at the mugshot.
I guess the aeronautical field was feeling left out when it came to their representatives doing crazy stuff. This is the last area in which I would expect someone to go and do something like this. LOL!!

On the other hand, I just read she will be charged with attempted murder.
That's not too funny.

U.S. Navy Capt. Lisa Nowak, who has three children and recently separated from her husband, was released from jail in Florida after posting bail. She was put on 30-day suspension by NASA and removed from all shuttle mission-related activities.

Based on the facts as I understand them, and they are from the news, thus not too reliable from a legal standpoint, but I am not getting where they got the attempted murder charge from. Its a very high standard and from what I am hearing and reading, I don't know that what she did rose to that level. But, I'm sure the prosecutors have their reasons for charging her with that. We'll see what happens.

so she wears a diaper so she doesnt have to stop - but yet....what car drives 900 miles without a fill-up?
one of the late night talk show hosts pointed this out last night. I heard about it this morning, so I'm not sure which one it was.

Apparently astronauts wear some sort of adult diaper in space. How you can un-toilet train yourself is beyond me...it seems so ingrained.
I too want the car that goes 900 miles between gas stops.

What about a hybrid car? What's the max on a fill up?
On maybe the point of not stopping was not being recognized later? She was thinking she could pay at pump at stations next to highways and never be Id-ed maybe?
She's pretty clearly crazy, so I don't mean to assume there was anything rational about it.
