Hey Shelacious....
Normally I don't read fiction novels, but I thoroughly enjoyed "Their Eyes Were Watching God". Thank you for the suggestion.
BTW, it did take about a chapter to adjust to the language. My favorite word was 'shonough'. I think that I might use it is some of my posts around here LOL.

Was the author from the South? Because "shonough" is a real Southern word. I should know, I am from the South and I do use "shonough" alot! LOL

I think she spent many years of her life in Florida. Also, Shelacious pointed out that she was a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. so support her (posthumously).
My maternal grandmother uses the word "shonough" all the time. That's why I was so tickled to see it in print!

You YANKEES!
The word is Sho'nuff...hee hee hee
If you liked "Their Eyes Were Watching God" read her autobiography, Dust Tracks on a Road. (I too had to grasp the dialect for a moment b4 I could make it through Their Eyes)

Finer Woman 10-A-91,
Am I really a yankee? LOL
It was spelled "shonough" in the book.
That's funny that you mentioned Dust Tracks On A Road. I just checked that book out yesterday. Now y'all got me on a Zora Neale Hurston kick.

My bad...I stand corrected! It has been awhile since I have read " Their Eyes..."Sho'nuff" is the "other" version. I WILL NOT SAY IT. But I know you all know!
Happy Holidays to you all!
