Names that make you want to ask "why?"

I'm sure most of us have encountered them... names you just can't help but shake your head at. Whether the person with the name was black, white, hispanic, etc., list some of the "unique" names you have come across.

I'll start:

Pebbles
ShaCarolyn
Praise God , sp? (seriously, a person who works with my mom)
Aquanisha
Verushkah (ver- oosh- kah)
Sacajawea, sp? (remember learning about her in elementary school)
Tequilla
Sparkle Diamond-Potts
Emperess & Princess (sisters)
Mister
Black
Lacreesha
Lajuana

My friend was telling me about a kid her husband has in his class. The kid's name is--get this--Holden Woodcock. But wait, it gets better...his middle name is Andrew, so his name is Holden A. Woodcock! The other kids in the class haven't caught on yet apparently, but I say just give them time...

I was looking at the cover of Parade magazine for today and some woman was holding her daughter "Ikea"

Dude, WTF...you named your kid Ikea? Did you conceive her in the middle of the showroom floor????

I went to high school with someone named Sunshine. I'm not sure if it was her legal name - she was listed on the rolls as "Laura (Sunshine) Lastname".

There's a big Asian population at my school. In a few cases, there were students with names that I'm sure mean something nice in Chinese or Korean or whatever, but in English, not so much. For example: Lik Mi and Fruk Woo. They were teased mercilessly

A coworker told me recently that friends of hers had a baby not too long ago. The name they had picked out for a boy, was Kandam (sp?). Yes, pronounced exactly like "condom". My coworker talked them out of it...

They could have been classy and named the kid Target, pronounced "Tar-zhay" ...

My oldest graduated with a boy whose name was pronounced "Chew My Dong". A professor here is named Long Wang.

My husband's old high school girlfriend has a son named Reed Slick. I'm sure he won't be a porn star when he grows up.

LOL

Now this is a funny thread!!!

Just remember to stay away from Boniva, Ciarra, Cialus, Viagra etc. any other name that could be mistaken for grandma's medication.

Working in public education lets you hear a lot of unusual names. I think my favorite was:

Uniroyal

I just told Mr. 1228 about the Ikea name. His reply:
"does she come in a box with a lot of pieces? Is assembly required?"

Here is another sign of child abuse: naming your kid LaTrine...Hello do ya know what a latrine is?
