In the matter of Most Irritating American (television-related)
Saw this in the Globe and Mail Entertainment section (keep in mind that this is a conservative paper up here) and had a good laugh - thought I'd share
Quote:
In the matter of Most Irritating American (television-related), a consensus has been reached. The winner is pugnacious pundit Ann Coulter.
The runners-up (with pithy comments from readers included) can also be revealed. The No. 2 is Dr. Phil ("a self-important creep"). The No. 3 is David Caruso ("can't act," "poseur"). At No. 4 is Nancy Grace ("bloodthirsty word-that-rhymes-with witch"). The No. 5 is Robert Novak ("moronic blowhard").
In the end, a number of readers declined to vote for George W. Bush, taking the view that Americans vote for Dubya, not Canadians, and he has already won enough elections. A late surge of support for Regis Philbin ("a sickening little smartass") failed to push the little irritant into the Top Five.
During the final 24 hours of voting, a terribly important person at CBC put it to me that Coulter should be removed from the list on the grounds that she's not "irritating," she is plain dangerous. Some other readers agreed, more or less, including one who expressed the view that being named the Most Irritating American would only please Coulter.
Me, I take the point, but disagree. Sure Coulter is prejudiced, nasty and, in the case of Canada, terrifically ignorant. But the best retort is laughter. Congratulations to Ann Coulter on winning the premiere edition of Most Irritating American (television-related).

Totally agree about Ann Coulter. But Paris Hilton should have made the top five.

I've sent a memo to all Canadians to stop sweating Americans.
Do you think you can make sure that the instructions are followed up there Rob?

If Joan Rivers is still on tv, she should be on the list too, although it's almost better that she just gets ignored.
Also, I HATE NANCY GRACE. HATE HER. She an Ann Coulter should be sent to the Remote Island For Angry White Women with Blonde Hair where they can live out the rest of their days without bothering the rest of us.

I would have posted the Most Irritating Canadian (Television) but I doubt anyone on the board would have known who they are

How in the world did Dr. Phil and/or Regis not make the top 3? They are right up there. At least I can stand Coulter at times, even though those times are few and far between. DP and Regis make me want to break my TV when they come on. Dr. Phil is just crap, and Regis is like Dick Clark--he just won't get off of TV, even though his career should have been over before I was born.

Ummm... Dr. Phil made #2... unfortunately Regis didn't quite make the top 5 - I guess there was just too many people (Canadians) that had it out for the other 5. Ann I think one hands down because of her implacable and ignorant attitude towards Canada - in addition to her insulting disregard for any thing that doesn't fall within her narrow view of the world.

If you Canadians wanna fight, bring it. I hear Bush is finally realizing that people do not support him and is plotting an Anti-Canada campaign with Rhea Pearlman leading the way.
Only thing cool about your country is your marijuana leaf on the flag!!!
Batches! Go choke on your Labat Blue!
America...*#&$ YEAH!

That's a trick question.....none of you are any more annoying than the other.
I just don't trust you people....you're too nice, you're too quiet, and you live RIGHT ABOVE America...
J/K, of course.

You forgot our legal drinking age, which is 19 (18 in Alberta and Quebec).

Nah... she isn't on TV anymore - she's mostly in Switzerland and Vegas...
So for interest sake here's the 2004 list (no 2005 as of yet):
The final standings in the Most Irritating Canadian (television-related) competition are as follows: 1) The Canadian Tire guy and Ben Mulroney; 2) Shelagh Rogers; 3) Gordon Pape; 4) Paul Martin; 5) Jian Ghomeshi; 6) Sheila Copps; 7) Ralph Klein; 8) The Lakota commercial guy; 9) Don Cherry; 10) Rex Murphy.
How many can you recognize... other than Don Cherry or Paul Martin.

LOL!!
Why is Paul Martin #4? I think he should be higher up...with the scandal in Ottawa, should Gurmant Grewal be on the list too (or not, since he might be kicked out of the country...)?
