Can you tell us more about your school and the greek system tehre? I come from a commuter school with no greek housing for women...but we have a VERY strong greek affairs office, almost every event on this campus is run by the greeks.
In the past the Phi Mu on my campus had a hard time making quota without having to COB, this was the first fall rush we have ever been able to make quota plus additions.
It takes alot of teamwork to make it work.
Maybe formal rush or rush partys arent the way to get girls on your campus
maybe something that will work better would be if every sister invited a girl or a friend maybe from class or that they know to an informal sisterhood gathering like maybe dinner at a resturant or a sporting event, or even more informal a girls movie night at someones home.
sometimes rush events scare off girls who might consider rushing
if its a less formal thing they may see joining an organization as joining a group of friends...instead of joining a greek org. I know many great sisters in my chapter who were rushed in that very way
Sometimes it takes looking at the population of your school and trying to get into the mindset of the girls on your campus...
OHH another thing we would do was scheduled lunch dates, we would all schedule lunch in the student union and be there sitting in letters all together, it may seem small but we always looked like a group of sisters sitting around for lunch, very happy and unified...we'd often invite friends or people from classes to sit with us.
But all in all...be STRONG!! and remember the great qualitys that make Phi Mu unique and special. Keep a smile on your face...Plus, the harder you have to work for it, the greater it will be when it comes. And remember quality not quantity.. make that one Phi feel like the most special person on earth, and invite her into our bond
hope this helps even a little...email me if you wanna just talk
