You all really have some interesting responses. With the exception of my boy, DM (

), I think those "dreams" should be your career targets.
At the very minimum, you should have a career in something that you enjoy, and if you could do it for free, you would. It is possible to have your dream job and be practical at the same time. And, for some of us whom are given the blessed opportunity to start afresh, your dreams should lead you into your new career (Lady Ideal).
After its all said and done--you shouldn't have many regrets! If its your dream to have a talk show, be a hotel critic, etc...go after it. No dream is too large, nor too small. All things are possible, remember? (Phil. 4:13)
I'm currently working toward my dream job. My dream is to become the VP of Student Affairs at a medium sized private university. I'm a doctoral student and am working in offices pertaining to student financial services, enrollment management, and the like.
I've had jobs doing what I didn't like, and cried nearly every day. I'm looking forward to my new career--I just smile when I think about how wonderful it will be to help make college student's lives smoother.
