The things people will do to feel cool...perps.
First off I'd like to say I'm not a member of a frat. Dont know why I never joined as a freshman, now I kind of regret it, but it was a choice I made a while ago because I was premed. So I gotta live with it!
Anyhow, one thing I can't stand is perps. I can see why frat and sorority folks get annoyed with perps and fake phonies who try to act like they're a part of a frat.
One day about 3 years ago, both me and my friend were really fascinated with the whole secret society stuff like Free Masons/Illuminati, etc. So one day as an inside joke we made up a fake secret frat...just purely for laughs. Well here and there we started to test how many perps there were out there by mentioning our phony frat to people.
Wow, you would not believe the amount of people who were flat out liars! Honestly, I've had so many people tell me, "haha yeah, I heard/know about this organization. some of my family members are part of this powerful secret society." lol Everytime I told them that's impossible they responded with, "ok haha fine then dont believe me, whatever, the truth is the truth." After the joke died off a few weeks later...I found out just now...3 yrs later, some kid is going around saying he's part of this secret frat...the same one we invented!!! The worst part is, he's actually having some people believe this lie too, which annoys me. I mean this thing was an inside joke, and now these sad kids are turning it into a reality for themselves.
If one is a perp...that's ridiculously sad. But to be a perp for a made up frat is even sadder. Really, I don't get why people feel necessary to make up lies just so they feel like they're "powerful" or part of some inner political circle.
