Local Newspapers Cover Rising Number of Racist Anti-Obama Actions in Small Towns

If this is posted elsewhere, please merge.

Quote:
Away from the spotlight, many local newspapers around the country have covered recent incidents of racially motivated reactions to last week's election, from flags hung upside-down to the dangling of nooses and cross burnings. As we noted last week, a couple in northern New Jersey who had an Obama sign on their front lawn woke up to find the charred remains of a cross. Local residents today announced a "unity march" to protest the still-unsolved incident.
Quote:
In Midland, Mich., a man dressed in full Ku Klux Klan regalia walked around toting a handgun and waving an American flag. Initially denying it, the man eventually admitted to police that the display was a reaction to the Obama victory. “[The man] had a concealed weapon permit and was walking up and down the sidewalk in front of a vehicle dealership while some motorists shouted obscenities at him and others shouted accolades," police told The Saginaw News.

Parents in Rexburg, Idaho, contacted school officials this week after they learned that 2nd and 3rd graders on a school bus were chanting, "Assasssinate Obama!"

I suppose it's better that these people are publicly protesting rather than privately plotting to do bodily damage. Maybe?

There are other articles out there as well. SMH

I think it's really unfortunate that we live in a country where people are still not accepted b/c of the color of their skin or because "their person" didn't win.

Seriously.

It's really sad.

Instead of being a grown up about it and trying to band together to make the best out of the situation, they are sitting around all PO'd that their person didn't win and wasting their time on this earth to make fools of themselves.

In N.Tx, besides that noose incident @ Baylor, there have been a number of incidents where vets were flying flags upside down coupled with black flags.

The news reporter covering that incident spoke to another vet- a guy who was a McCain supporter - that said what that other vet doing was wrong and a disgrace to the country and to other vets.

That is so horrible.

I may not like Obama's ideals. I may not like the fact that he wants to require service from some populations. But I refuse to attack his vital statistics. I have black friends and colleagues- not just African American, but also African and Afro-Caribbean- and I know they are not all alike.

Hopefully these people will realize there are other ways to voice their disagreement with Obama's views and actions.

I believe the adage that for every rat you see, there are twenty more that you don't see. If this is happening above-ground, there is no telling what is being plotted underground.

We need to pray without ceasing.
