The lowdown:
Late Monday night, I discovered that my ATM/debit card was missing from my wallet. I figured that I had accidentally left it in the ATM I visited that night. Called my bank to report it lost, which must have been within a 2 hour time period.
I haven't been able to go by the bank because of the holiday and the rain until today because I had to deposit some checks. Went there and found out that my account was overdrawn with purchases made after my bank had placed a stop on my card. My card was blocked Monday night, and there were purchases on Tuesday and Wednesday...wtf?
Judging by the account activity, the moron might have been a female -- purchases were made at Arden B., Bebe, American Eagle, and get this -- TIFFANY'S! There were also transactions and two other restaurants. Altogether, the purchases totaled to over $300. Add to that my usual direct debits that go to pay my bills, and no wonder why my freaking account was negative.

Despite having "SEE I.D." on the back of my debit card, this f*&ker still used it.
I've lost my card before and I thought I was okay because I reported it ASAP so I didn't think much of it and assumed that my account balance would have still been what it was last Monday since I didn't withdraw anything.
Now I have to wait...the bank's investigators are aware of the situation now but it'll probably be a good 45 days before I hear anything. This island is small, so if I ever find out the identity of the assholes who did it, they'd better watch out.
Happy freaking 2004 to me.
