"Remember the Alamo" on History Channel

The History Channel is showing a documentary about the "real" people at the Alamo. How the Texans essentially stole Texas from Mexico and the folks in the Alamo just wanted to "live profitably".

This is mostly a question for our Texan members. Is there a lot of contraversy in the Lone Star State about this documentary?

Not that I know of, but then anyone who speaks ill of the sacred history of Texan independence runs the risk of being run out of our beloved Republic on a rail - and that's if the indignant populace doesn't tar and feather 'em, burn 'em at the stake and behead 'em!

The Daughters of the Republic of Texas are the fiercest defenders and custodians of the Shrine to Texas independence - the only other organization allowed to use the chapel of the Alamo is the Grand Lodge of Texas Masons. Twice a year, the Grand Master of Masons in Texas leads a processional from the Scottish Rite Cathedral in San Antonio to the Alamo (only about a block or two away). Inside the chapel, the Masons have a re-obligation ceremony. Having participated in one, it's a very moving ceremony.
