Attached is an email that was forwarded to me by a former coworker who is a member of the Stone Mountain/Lithonia DST Graduate Chapter. This email is about a member of that chapter. She sent it to me because she knows I am a Spelman Alumna. My condolences.
The last few months there seems to be more domestic violence than normal. Maybe it's just that it's hitting closer than normal because I knew 2 of the people involved in the recent situations in Atlanta. I'm just at a lost for words right now....

Greeting Sorors,
>It is with sadness in my heart that I share with you the sudden death of
>one our sorors, Soror Tracci Trummell Turner. Soror Turner was gunned
>down by her estranged husband early Saturday morning at the home of her
>parents. After seriously wounding her father ,he later killed himself.
>
>Soror Tracci was an 8th grade math teacher at Miller Grove Middle School.
>I had the pleasure to work with her last year and sorors believe me when I
>tell you that she was a beautiful person with a heart of gold and a smile
>that brightened everyone around her day. Soror Tracci was initiated at
>Spelmen College in 1988. Her love for our sorority was evident. Sorors
>at Miller Grove last remember her on Friday with her favorite red suit on
>wearing a Delta Pin.
>
>I just left Miller Grove Middle School in which hundreds of student were
>grieving the lost of our soror. As I set and listened to some of the
>remarks from the students in regards to what they will miss most about
>Soror Turner, some of the comments were as follows:
>
>
>She always was smiling in the hallways
>She would offer early morning tutoring in math for students that were
>having problems.
>She would reward me with treats when I did something good
>She wasn't my teacher, but when she would see me doing something wrong in
>the hallways she would pull me aside to talk to me about being a young
>lady at all times.
>She was my mentor
>Friday at school, I broke out in hives, she called me Friday night at home
>to make sure I was OK.
>She was the best math teacher I ever had
>She recommended me to be apart of "Delta Academy" and I'm so happy she did.
>
>Yes Sorors, she was very special to all those that knew her. The Omega
>Omega Service for Tracci will be held this Friday at 10:00 AM at
>Greenforest Baptist Church. Her funeral will follow.
>
>Let us pray for her family. Her father who is in critical condition and
>her mother who is having a very difficult time dealing with the lost of
>her only child, and the critical condition of her husband. Her mother
>mentioned on Saturday that her father tried desperately to protect his
>daughter from this danger. It was no surprise to her though, because her
>and her father were very close.
>
>Delta love to you all,
>
