What they reeeeally wanted to say
Paul Laurence Dunbar wrote "We Wear The Mask" a poem addressing the duality of Black life in America. I wondered, lightheartedly, what some of our leaders might really have said, had they been able to “shed the mask?"
Martin Luther King: “Coretta, boo you know I’m down with this non-violence thing, but if that policeman would have said one more thing to me, I was going up in his chest cavity, you hear me?…”
Sect. Of State Colin Powell, (on visiting the Middle-East): “Look a-here, playas, I’m tired of coming over here behind all this madness yall bringing. Yall need to go sit down somewhere and act like you got some sense. Alma (my wife) had a meal on at the crib and I was about to slam; BUT NOOO, I gotta fly over here again cause yall can’t squash this east coast-west coast thing….
Presidential Counselor Vernon Jordan : “You did what? Bill, WTF were you thinking, dog? I know you roll a fly limo and all but you can’t be just kickin' it with the staff all willy-nilly like that. …you'se a crazy boy, I’ll give you that.
…feel free to add on
