Breaking News: "Orange" Alert

U.S. raises terror threat assessment

Increase to ‘orange’ level
reflects intelligence that
al-Qaida is planning attack
Feb. 7 — NBC’s Pete Williams reports on the Bush administration’s decision to raise its terrorist threat level.

NBC, MSNBC AND NEWS SERVICES
WASHINGTON, Feb. 7 — The Justice Department increased its terrorist threat assessment level to “orange” — or high risk — on Friday, reflecting concerns among U.S. security officials that terrorists are planning a “major attack” as early as next week. The move came a day after the State Department warned Americans abroad of the threat of new terrorist attacks using chemical or biological weapons.

I suspected that something was going to be done to TRY and get our attention on another matter, and not the Shuttle investigation. I think that the Shuttle disaster could have been avoided. So, now we are to focus our attention on the POSSIBILITY that there could be another attack...

It is all part of Bush's plan.

I have to agree. How convienent is the timing? Just another example of Bush playing on American's fears and emotions to gain political support for his war. Anyone notice how in Ashcroft's speech, he kept mentioning September 11 over and over again? What exactly is the purpose of issuing code alerts? Is it to excuse blame if something does happen? I refuse to believe that we are in any more danger at any given point in time than at another.

Interesting concept

Hmmmm. Y'all might be on to something here. Divert attention from the Shuttle explosion AND justify going to war with Iraq. How convenient.

I thought the same thing. Who are all these "sources" that called up George W and told him Saddam is planning on using chemical weapons?
