I was laid off today from my job of 2 years.
My company has had layoffs every quarter for about a year and a half - ever since the tech sector started going south. My office has gotten off light the past few rounds, but today the ax fell. Me, my boss, and 8 others.
I will get a small severance package, and I'm eligible for unemployment (which is *tiny* compared to my salary, but it's something).
What really sucks is my boss getting laid off. He was one of the best people they had. His wife is a SAHM and they have 3 little kids.
All I have is a mortgage...
Meantime, wish me luck - I'm hitting the streets, resume in hand.
I know there are a lot of people here from the NYC area... if you know of any companies in Fairfield or Westchester counties that are hiring software engineers, please let me know. (I'll use all the connections I can get
