Kennesaw State
Does anyone know if Kennesaw is expanding? My son was looking at a friend's facebook page and apparently, she's in a local there.

What a coincidence! A friend of mine who recently transferred there just told me that two nights ago. Congrats!

It is not official, no vote or anything but it came up at the NPC meeting in October so it sounds like it is on the future horizon. Nothing in NPC bulletin yet. Quote doubled this year to like 38 and there are only two NPC groups there, DPhiE and Phi Mu.

Kennesaw is a cool college. I went to UGA (University of Georgia), but we have a chapter there at Kennesaw (where the girls are really great). It used to be a commuter college, but now they have built residential and it has expanded to be really big. Also, the campus is really cute and not too huge. My roommate actually goes to Kennesaw State and absolutely loves it there. In fact, almost all my friends from there love it. Good luck!

Last I heard, they were expanding. Don't take my world as gospel because it came through the grapevine and not through Greek Life or anything like that, but I think they are.

Actually, they seem to have a pretty well rounded Greek Community with NIC, NPHC, and NPC.
But regardless, it is always great to see expansion!

Although they are the 3rd largest college in the Georgia University system, they only had about 8,000 "traditional" students this year, which puts them at about the same size as West Georgia in that sense. We lived in Kennesaw for 13 years and still don't live too far from there, so we have seen it grow right before our eyes.
Adding dorms has helped campus life, but expanding the Greek system and (fingers crossed...they haven't ruled it out) adding a football team would make it even more desirable to "traditional" four year students looking for the "traditional" college experience. Also, a lot of the "commuters" are fresh out of high school freshmen, too, that literally live within 5 minutes of KSU (w/o traffic...which is horrendous), so they are spending a lot of time there even if they aren't actually sleeping on campus.
I was surprised that they only had 2 NPC sororities...and for a really long time only had 1. There have been fraternities there as long I can remember....20+ years.
I hope they expand soon, I think it could only be a positive move.

Yeah, I've heard a lot about Kennesaw trying to expand. As an OPA girl just down the road at Georgia Tech, I got to know several of our Kennesaw State girls really well throughout the colonization process. (The initial interest group was formed by a girl who knew one of our chapter's girls, Atlanta_OPhiA on GC.) OPA was really well received on the campus largely because there's only two other sororities on campus (DPhiE and Phi Mu, I believe), so I would imagine that any NPC expansion would go really well.
