SDT at UT-Austin

Can someone explain why SDT is participating in formal recruitment again this year? From everything I know and have read it doesn't help ANYONE not even SDT. It skews the quota and girls who don't want SDT have no way to drop them.

This isn't about them being an "unpopular" chapter. They're just different, completely from Texas Greek life. It's not the same experience nor is it the experience most PNMS sign up for or are looking for.

Why does SDT continue trying to have a successful formal recruitment? Why can't they do what they do at many other campuses.

Girls who don't want other chapters have no way of dropping them, either. I am not an expert on UT recruitment, so others can weigh in about why SDT is participating in formal recruitment, and the skewing of quota, but the tone of this sounds like it would fit better on Greek Rank rather than Greek Chat.

I am not familiar with the school or the chapter - just found out about it last night while poking around on the "other" site for information about the glitter/piggyback parties... but if they're part of Panhellenic, they should be part of formal recruitment. Are there issues other than them being a weak-recruiting chapter?

From my knowledge of RFM, it does NOT "skew the quota". Quota is set AFTER preference parties.

So here's what I think about your post:

no, nevermind. Other people know what I'm about to say.

Can someone explain why the nasty people on g reek r ank can't contain their vitriol to one website? (This person posted this exact post there, or copied it.)

Can someone explain why one minute people are complaining about pledge classes being too large, and the next minute they are complaining about not getting 5 extra girls?

Can someone explain that just because a group has the least amount of members, it doesn't mean everyone gets asked back?

Also, do people who actually go there call it "UT-Austin"?

I'm wondering if the OP actually knows what she's talking about. Even if they do participate in formal rush all the way to the end it doesn't necessarily skew quota. That can be adjusted for if panhel wants to. And if panhel doesn't want to it may be for reasons other than tainting her lilywhite Christian snowflake. Like there are plenty of Jewish girls going through formal who might be interested if presented the option, which they wouldn't have if SDT didn't participate. The presumption here is that SDT will take anyone's leftovers and small does not necessarily mean not selective.

I will be interested to learn from someone who's knowledge is valid.

LOL, I didn't know it was ACTUALLY posted on Greek Rank, just thought it had that vibe. Yea, totally the reason I didn't get a bid to PKT was because of SDT. Yea, that's it. They wanted me so hard, everyone else had to drop me.

Yes they do but not all the time. There are so many popular UT branches that many will say UT Austin just to be specific.

Believe it or not, not everyone wants to live in a sorority house - yes, even some PNMs at UT.
