How sad. Head and Neck cancer is just awful and he made it a long time after treatment. I think it was really awesome how he even went back to work after having such massive surgery. RIP.

Wonder if he and Gene Siskal are back at it arguing over the very movie reviews. I loved to watch them together.

He was an atheist. No need to discuss him as though he is in heaven now.

If he was an atheist, do you think he'd like you talking about him being in Heaven?
It'd be like talking about how stoked Pope John Paul II met his 72 virgins.

It's a false comparison. The Blessed Pope John Paul II was a very well known religious leader. Of course everybody knows he is a Catholic, even if they don't fully understand what that means. I for one had no idea that Ebert was an atheist. I don't how common knowledge that is, but it is not something self evident like the faith of a religious leader. That being said, Daffy was paying him respect by assuming he was in heaven, possibly continuing the work he was passionate about his whole life.

Jill, didn't you post a great cartoon of Siskel and Ebert on FaceBook?
And I understand DB's comment.
