I LOVE that song, but...
Do you have one of those songs that you absolutely love, but one small thing about it makes you wonder, "What were they thinking?" or just turns you off a little? .. or completely?
Maybe the song has a certain name in it that you'd prefer wasn't there? Or one lyric changes the meaning of the song altogether, and you wish it meant something else? Or some of the music is a little off? Or the bridge isn't what you hoped it would be?
I love ____(song)____ by ____(artist/band)___, but they messed it up because ___________________.
For me:
"Teardrops on my Guitar" by Taylor Swift - I don't like that she has the name Drew in the song
"Marry Me" by Train - It's such a nice love song, but the line "If I ever get the nerve to say hello in this cafe" makes you believe that these two people aren't even together
"When I Go Down" by Relient K - At a little past 4 minutes into the song, there are these bells, and to me, it sounds like a Christmas song all of a sudden

I love "After Hours" by Swing Out Sister, but they messed it up because the beginning of the song with the singing is awful and depressing. It's when the singing stops and the instruments start to play, then it really rocks. It's like the whole song changes into a different song altogether. The only part of the song I love. You have to listen to the whole song to see what I'm talking about. It's towards the end, and it's no singing except for at the the start of the ending. Weird I know, but it's a weird song. I'm a huge Swing Out Sister fan.

Uh, erm ... that's because they're not. That's sort of the whole point of the song, that he's "seeing into the future" so to speak.

Right.. which is why I'm not 100% in love with it. lol. I'd prefer that it be a song about two people who are together.

Same song but I don't like when he says "She makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up." It was a cool song till you started singing about the back of your hairy neck, take that somewhere else!
I liked "You Don't Know My Name" by Alicia Keys till she got all uber stalker, talking about his shiny cufflinks and stuff.
I liked "Dangerously in Love" by Beyonce till she said "I can't do this thing called life without you here with me." If you can't do LIFE without him, you don't need a man, you need learn how to live your life.
I was down with "Poison" till BBD started telling people I wasn't trustworthy just cuz I have a big butt and a smile. I still haven't forgiven them for that.
I could keep going but then I'll start getting all personal and everyone will be like "Dang CG, it's just a song!"

"Brick House" by the The Commodores - when they say "built like an Amazon" I think "Really? One breast chopped off so she can be a better archer?"
No need to point out how this dates me.

I tried to thwart it, but the only way would be to misspell "Amazon" - not happening.

There are too many hip hop cuts I like to name. I like Eminem but some of the lyrics in a few cuts by him are way out in left field somewhere. It's not like Pac or Too $hort where most of the lyrics make sense.

Marry You by Bruno Mars. Really catchy song, but "We're looking for something dumb to do./Hey, baby,/I think I wanna marry you" just makes my back teeth itch.

If you like Swing out Sister, then you'd probably like Basia, too. I'm a big fan of her music, too. I have everything by her.

The grammar in it kills me.

Maybe we should tell him there are doctors for that.
Oh and in line with that BBD song, there's a Ludacris song where he's sipping on something while driving. I don't support any song where they are drinking and driving like it's cool. I turn the station anytime it comes on.

That's right up there with "We ain't gettin' no younger, we might as well do it." I'm giving all of Jagged Edge the side eye.
ETA: I'm currently listening to "I Love You" by Martina McBride. I'm not a huge fan of country but I've always loved this song...till I noticed one of the first lines is "I've only known you just a week or two."
