Assisted suicide crusader Jack Kevorkian was readmitted to the hospital last night because of a recurring kidney condition and pneumonia, his lawyer said this afternoon.
Mayer Morganroth said Kevorkian was hospitalized several weeks ago with a kidney ailment, but had been released.
“Last night things flared up and we took him in,’ Morganroth said. “So it’s his kidneys and a little bit of pneumonia.”
Morganroth said his client was sounding “a little bit better” in a noontime telephone conversation.
Kevorkian, 82, also has a history of heart problems and hepatitis C.
The subject of an award-winning made for TV movie biography starring Al Pachino, Kevorkian was convicted of second degree murder in 1999 and given a 10-25-year sentence. He was released in 2009.
