Four Weddings

I'm watching the premiere on TLC that aired after the Miss America pageant.

It is a different kind of wedding/bride show. 4 brides (do they ever have grooms?) go to each other's weddings and share what they liked and didn't like. I think there's a winner at the end of this and they get a trip to a surprise location.

The weddings that they are showing are very different. It goes to show that your wedding is about what you and your spouse want.

Very interesting show! I'm glad that the "other brides" weren't nasty catty, because each wedding had a charm of its own.

Some of the comments were a little funny.

Perhaps the cattiness will come in later episodes when the competition gets realer and they want to get more viewers. Being nice doesn't make it these days and folks may want more of a Bridezillas/crazy bitches effect.

I honestly hope not! I don't watch the crazy women shows... And I really liked seeing all of the different cultures! I was shocked that the one bride had never seen a Catholic mass before - which tells you a little about where I live!

LOL live-in and I were joking about the many full-mass weddings we've been to - it's like a preemptive burning of calories before hitting up the cookie table!

My favorite moment of the show was when the Indian bride gave one of the bride (who ended up winning) a low score because she felt rushed and didn't get to sample all the desserts. I was cracking up. She was so serious...and seemed hurt that she didn't get all the sweets.

Although, I'd probably be sad, too. The desserts looked GOOD!

Interesting show. At first, I liked it but then I saw that some brides are just really juvenile, catty, and/or unwilling to see others ideas on what they feel a wedding should be. I'm watching one episode an one of the girls had a boho, untraditional semi-casual event and the other girls (one in particular) damn near had a cow. Really? Honestly, you can take your ghetto ass home.

The concept of the show is flawed. Weddings, like art, are subjective. If they weren't, every wedding in the world would be the same.

The thing I do like about the show is that they show different type of cultural weddings. I've never been to a Jewish, Hindu, Greek Orthodox ceremony and it's nice to see different ways others celebrate.

Just saw the British version a few days ago.
The episode featured one women who had a budget wedding, priding herself in only spending 500 pounds (no not just the dress, on the whole wedding!) while the others had very extravagant weddings and very very snooty about the budget.

There's anther British show I love even better:
It's called "Don't tell the bride.."
On the show the groom plans the whole wedding (including food, venue, dress, bridesmaids, guests etc.) while the bride is kept in the dark, and from seeing the groom, until the wedding. Some get it right, while others get it very, very wrong!

There was a show like that on WE a few years back (Surprise on the Bride). The guy (with some input from a planner to show him venues and stuff that match his ideas) plans the wedding and the bride gets no input on anything. Then the entire day is a surprise.

Most of the time, the bride ended up happy. There was just one I remember being super unhappy. She wanted an indoor wedding and her fiance choose a public park for the ceremony and reception. I think she cried. lol.

My fave are the surprise wedding episodes of "Whose Wedding is it Anyway?" The guy (with the help of a planner) plans the wedding. Then he surprises the girlfriend with a proposal AND a wedding on the same day (that she didn't plan).

So it's like "Suzie will you marry me?" Girl: "Yes, Bobby. I love you so much." Guy: "Well I planned our wedding and we will be getting married tonight!" *cue horrified look from Girl*

I've seen people have near break-up worthy arguments when they get their surprises. One girl practically ran from her bf (in the middle of telling her they're getting married tonight) and cried. lol. There were some girls who didn't care that much though.

Haha. I love that you're totally cool with that. I wouldn't care as long as I could pick my own dress and location (Vegas only).

The way some of the women acted, you would think the boyfriend had said "Ok but before we go any further, I have to tell you that I plan on having 3 other wives and two boyfriends. Plus I accidentally backed over your puppy on the way here!"
