Agreed about the simplicity. Try picking one color (maybe depending upon how your house is painted/decorated?) and accenting it with silver, black or white (or a combo of two of those). It's pretty easy to coordinate matching plates, napkins, flower vases, balloons, picture frames, etc when using simple colors. I don't have many photos from our recruitment, but our walls are a lavender color, and we accented with silver, light blue and white. In the beginning of the week we used more blue and white (ADPi colors) and tapered down towards just the silver and purple for pref. We use lots of fresh flowers on pref night, so the toned down colors really made the flower arrangements stand out. Keep in mind that simple, cheap decorations can go a long way- we used string lights on pref so we didn't need overheads on, and since we have high ceilings we used a lot of balloons with short silver ribbons earlier in the week and it created a really cool balloon-covered ceiling (balloons don't always have to be tacky!). Find a color scheme and a mood that fits your recruitment (do you want warm and homey? cool and classy?) and go from there.
