Gold parties?
So, these gold parties are all the rage around here these days. Some company comes into a home and people bring their "old" gold.. be it tangled herringbone chains from the 80's, broken bracelets, single earrings (lost the other half), etc. and they pay you for the gold based on the weight and the karats. I'd heard about a couple people going to them and walking away with a couple hundred dollars from a few pieces of jewelry. Now I've been invited to one. I will definitely take my first husband's wedding ring because it's been sitting in my jewelry box since 1990 and I don't know what else I'd do with it. I tried to pawn it once and they offered me twenty bucks for it, but that was in 1991.
So, is this a Michigan thing or is this going on all over? Has anybody made big money taking their old stuff to one of these parties?
