Greek Pong balls
http://www.greekpong.com/
Has anyone seen this? I'm actually surprised that so many HQs signed off on the licensing for this... t-shirts and commemorative coins are one thing, but putting one's letters/crest on a pong ball is bordering on disrespect, IMO.

For what it is worth, they DO have a table tennis quote on the site - so theoretically the balls are for table tennis.

Ok. I'm kind of scarred to ask this, but other than table tennis and their use in "The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert", for what other reasons might one purchase pong balls?

I can see undergrads using it for beer pong and alum using it for table tennis or as a display item.
Beer pong is gross, btw.

LOL that my org has licensed it - and with the CREST of all things! Lord! I'm sure they assumed they'd only be used for "table tennis" and ROOT beer pong. Totally realistic.

I'm still surpised any group would think it was a good idea to have their crest on a ball that will get filthy from playing.

Yeah, I think the whole idea is a trainwreck. You're putting our crest and letters on something that gets hit with a paddle (ironic), and either gets dirty, stepped on, lost or beer-soaked. (ok, ROOT beer soaked, if that helps them sleep at night) I agree with the OP, I think it's highly disrespectful and just a really, really bad idea marketing-wise for the org.

Actually, I have never heard of it. For what it is worth, Beer Pong seems similar to "Quarters". Which, with all due humility, I was quite good at in college.
I do like what Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, said about Beer Pong.
"Today, beer pong is played at a multitude of North American colleges and universities and elsewhere. The game is also played by high school students, despite the fact that furnishing alcohol to persons under the age of 21 is illegal in the United States."

Oh snicker.
"Ping" pong balls? Here on GC we regularly see prolonged and sometimes hostile debates about <cue solemn pipe organ chord> Letters <pipe organ chord fades>: stitched / screen printed / Greek / spelled out in English / worn by actives / worn or not worn by pledges (new members, what have you) / worn or not worn by girlfriends, and on and on and on.
And now we have some GLOs licensing "ping" pong balls? With crests, letters, and in some cases badge designs? Gotta love the entrepreneurial spirit and licensing fees. I guess.

ALPHA GAMMA DELTA said okay with these?
The letters are one thing...but our ARMORIAL BEARINGS? Not only that...they have our Canadian version too!

My personal "favorite" Phi Kappa Sigma - Samuel Brown Wylie Mitchell not that I know what his significance is but the fact its a picture of a person made me laugh.

I have the same feeling. In fact I am very angry that my group's letters and crest are being used for this. I have a pretty strong feeling that this was not an official decision...

Well, they do have the Greek Licensed product logo - and if they were going to ignore copyright, you would think they'd have more groups.
