I don't think your situation is all that weird. In fact, I think it shows good sense. You've demonstrated your maturity and your willingness to improve yourself.
Yes, your lower GPA
could mean some houses will drop you. They all have a minimum GPA to pledge, and yours could be under that. Or not. We don't know the specifics. However, the fact that you have friends in the sororities is good - they'll know the situation and can explain it to their sisters.
This is also where recommendations can help. The alumnae writing the rec can explain your grade situation, and how you've worked to bring it up.
One way or another, you've done all you can about your grades.
Now you can polish your conversation skills, and work on your wardrobe.
