Any ideas for Around the World?

So, I go to a small school where there are only 4 panhellenic sororities. Our panhel theme for spring formal recruitment is Around the World. I am currently recruitment director, though I don't intend to be next semester, but I would like to have some ideas for our future recruitment director. Does anybody have any experience with this theme? I am at a loss for ideas. A little bit of background on my school.. we don't have houses or do skits. Our first round is generally a get to know you and basic info on our sorority. Second round is all about us, and the 3rd round is preference. Each year the rounds change, and I'm not sure if we are doing 3 days or a whole week this spring. If anybody has ideas though, they would be much appreciated!

Do you really have to do anything with the theme? I thought the main point of Panhellenic themes was just to have a graphic to put on the website and/or a t-shirt.

We are supposed to have a theme within the theme as far as my understanding goes. I assume that means each sorority chooses a different place, but I feel like everyone will be doing the same things, just for their own country. We also need to do banners.

Our Homecoming theme this year was around the world!! Instead of choosing one 'place' we did Chi Omegas around the world, and made a giant map with Owl's on places where our chapters members have lived, studied, and visited. You could expand this theme and show the girls that your sorority is everywhere! We had two girls last year from Korea, they were exchange students, and so we had owls in Korea. It was super cool, and I know a lot of people want to travel so its an exciting idea for everyone.

I love this idea!

If you don't have an animal mascot this would work for, go with Australia. You can have kangaroos everywhere and the theme can be "Jump Into [insert your sorority here]."

I really love that map idea!

My chapter had a similar theme this year. I'm a little fuzzy on the details (just got back to chapter after being a recruitment counselor). We had a different country/location theme for each party:

Western/"Howdy from AOII!": We had letter shirts made with a western-like print, some women wore boots, and we served "campfire snacks" like smores and mini-hot dogs.

Safari: animal-print letter shirts, cut out animals as wall decorations, and I think the table decorations were plastic safari hats (from the party store) with a few little stuffed animals from a sister's collection

China/"Ni hao from AOII!": Our pandas really came in handy for this one! We had paper lanterns hanging from the ceiling and sitting on the tables (and pandas everywhere!) One of our sisters is from China and she helped us make some wall decorations with the Chinese symbols for "family", "sisters", etc.

Paris/"Bonjour from AOII!": This was our preference night. We had the standard Eiffel Tower/skyline wall decorations made of black paper and string lights.

My favorite detail was on our bid cards: "Now that you have traveled around the world, it's time for you to come home."

Tri-Sigma's sailboat and "ever forward" is perfect for the "around the world" theme. "Wherever your life journey takes you, Tri-Sigma will be with you," or something like that.
