Letters of recommendation

Hello to all,

Happy Friday!! This question is in regards to NPHC Intake; however, anyone's insight is welcome

So, I am interested in ABC sorority but I have a mentor who is a member of XYZ sorority. Is it inappropriate to ask my mentor for a letter of recommendation?
