Recs for People without an Alum group or hometown panhellenic

I come from a town with 798 people, and the rest of my county is very rural/small town as well. I just looked at the directory of Alumnae Panhellenics and the closest one to me is an hour away. Should I try contacting that one? What should I do to get my letters of recommendation? I'm going to be rushing Texas A&M in the fall and I just read in another forum that they are very important to have there. I only know one person who could write me a letter! Any advice would be helpful!
