Some years ago, I worked at a Non-profit womens self help group and 95% of the staff were women. Well, A new co-worker came to work wearing a pink top with a green blazer. The pink & green craze had not caught on back then so if you were wearing the combination, it was generally assumed you were an AKA. So I asked the woman (a black woman), "You're an AKA?" Her reply ""Yes, I'm also known as ME!"
So I smiled and said "Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.? When did you cross?" The look she gave me was priceless. "Ummm, I'm not in a sorority."
Yeah...All righty then....
