I worked at a mental health facility years ago, and there was a client who had a foot fetish. His greatest obsession was seeing women's bare feet. He would throw his partner's shoes away or damage them so she would have to throw them away. Summer time was an excruciating time for him. He could hardly go anywhere that he didn't feel compelled to masterbate after being confronted with sandals and bare feet anywhere he looked! I really felt bad for the guy. Medication helped him greatly, but his life was generally miserable. He was truly lucky to have a partner who loved and understood his illness (she did keep her favorite shoes etc locked in a closet he couldn't get into)

I imagine as this man's need for a hospital "fix" grows more desparate, he will eventually start hurting himself in order to satisfy his fixation. Perhaps therapy will teach him he can purchase these items to provide himself some relief (although I bet purloining them is part of the attraction) Hopefully medication will help.
