So how do they see something that is covered and tell that it's a gun from a distance? This sounds like a false alarm for a nonevent.
And it is not illegal to carry a weapon on VT campus, as long as you don't carry into a building. Students may face discipline, but only under campus regulations, not under law.

Yeah, because there's not been any reason why someone would have been sensitive to the idea of a gun on Virginia Tech's campus. I just can't possibly imagine why someone might be a little jumpy about it.
