I'm so sorry if I sounded rude by making a generalization.

As an African American, I understand the importance of family as well and we, too, (personally speaking) also have a Patriarch of our family. But with that understanding, we don't have to mouth the words "my family" in every single sentence the way Caroline does.
And it's not just the whole "my family this and that" thing, it's more about her melodramatic way of explaining things. "When I heard my husband's diagnosis, ... I just burst into tears," or "When I heard my son say that, ... my heart just broke ..." or "When I looked over at my parents, my heart just exploded ..." I just feel like she overexaggerates her expressions, and it's annoying. I'm like, "Okay! We GET it, Caroline! Sheeeeesh!!"
