And about growing up in a different time, since you're college-aged, I'm going to guess your father and I are the same generation (Baby Boomers, latter half of the Boom). That growing-up-in-a-different-time excuse is the one my parents (depression-era Southerners) used about
their parents (the grandchildren of Confederate soldiers). Sorry, but it's a lame excuse to make for anyone who's not closing in on at least 70 now. That's not a comment about your father; it's a comment about what you've said about your father.
